Volunteers

Requiring more than 50 actors per night, as well as set builders and those who help behind the scenes, Hockessin Haunted House would not be possible without our many volunteers.  In addition to several University of Delaware student groups, a multitude of individuals return year after year to help make our haunt a success.  We thank you all for your ongoing support and dedication.

A special thank you to those who work in front, behind (and often beyond!) the scenes:

Randy Ristine who walked down the street from his house in 2009 to see "what's going on?" - and has never left since! He is an invaluable member of not only the HHH team but has also become family. From set design and building to script writing and acting, he is a special effects genius.  In 2016, he gave up his love of acting for the better of our production and now keeps everything running smoothly from behind the scenes
Rebecca Coughenour who has guided us in our charitable cause since 2008, connected us with Comp Animals Pet Rescue, and is our all-around Ticketmaster - spearheading our venture into online ticket sales in 2022
Ron Stewart who built our slap-down box in 2012, our electric chair in 2013, our pop up coffin in 2014, our Hellevator in 2015, and has served as our all-around carpenter, electrician, and handyman since 2016
Sarah Crampsey, Katie Hitchens, and Alyssa Ristine who have provided hundreds of hours for the cause, even though bribes have at times been necessary!
Terri Ristine who puts up with our shenanigans 24/7/365, is always ready to help wherever she is needed, especially behind the scenes, and provides food donations including her famous chocolate chip cookies for the actors every year
Gerald Carroll who not only provides his 1979 Cadillac S&S Victoria Hearse, but also acts AND is handy with a hammer
Dave Hitchens who helped with setup in 2010 and 2011 and with pool special effects since 2017

King Lee for loaning us his prized gun collection for our Winchester haunt in 2019
Nick Szupowal who we offically kidnapped in 2015 and not only acts, but also works endless hours on technical projects and special effects - even now that he has moved afar
Pavel Pablo who stepped in when Nick Szupowal left and has spent many a "Hell Week" with us in the years since
Jenn Szupowal who acted and provided many hours from 2015-2017
Kedar and Heta Patel who helped with setup in 2016 and provided help behind the scenes during the performances on both October 28 and 29, 2016
Janet Chin and Linda Rogers who have given hundreds of hours in set-up in 2013, 2014, 2015, and especially 2016, and who also assisted with costumes and makeup in 2016.  Also thank you, Linda, for all the props you provided in 2016 - and Janet for your delicious brownies for the actors
John Michalkiewicz who gave hundreds of hours for the cause in 2008 and 2009, provides the air compressors every year, and THE only person allowed to touch/program a crucial séance special effect!
James Burke who built ghastly personalized tombstones for us in 2012
Katie Faulkner who built our "special" coffin in 2011
Kevin Lee who built our Ouija board table in 2012
Alicia Latham and Lizzie Latham who ran our errands and completed any tasks when asked, no matter how gruesome, from 2010-2014
Chuck Ristine who got our gas fireplace up and running again for our performances
David Morse who helped with special effects in 2015 and 2016 (especially the construction and the installation of the projection box)
Macchinder Pal Sharma for his help with the road signs in 2016
Mrs. "Pickles" from Evanson Road right here in Hockessin who allowed us to take her laundry room sink when we saw it at the end of her driveway!
Glenn Taylor who was with us for the first ever haunted house in 1988, continues to help with setup every year, and is always just a phone call away
